About Iowa Geospatial Data Clearinghouse
The Census Boundary and Annexation Survey (BAS) is conducted annually by the U.S. Census Bureau to collect information about selected legally defined geographic areas. The State of Iowa participates in BAS through an MOA with the Census Bureau, allowing the state to submit annexation and boundary information on behalf of local governments. This participation helps update legal boundaries, names, and statuses for all governments in the United States. The collected boundary information is used to tabulate data for various censuses and surveys.
