How we source school data

All school information on Every Iowan comes from publicly available sources:

Official school district websites
Iowa Department of Education public records
School nutrition vendor portals (Nutrislice, Titan, etc.) — public-facing menus only
Iowa Secretary of State filings

We never access private student records, staff-only portals, or password-protected systems.

FERPA compliance

Every Iowan does not collect, store, or display any student personally identifiable information (PII) as defined by FERPA (20 U.S.C. § 1232g).

Our listings contain only publicly available institutional data: school addresses, phone numbers, public website URLs, and publicly posted lunch menus.

No student names, grades, test scores, or enrollment records are displayed.
