About

Cobble Hill is a farm-to-table restaurant in downtown Cedar Rapids offering an upscale, fine dining experience. Named after the Brooklyn neighborhood where owners Andy and Carrie Schumacher once lived, the restaurant is located one block from the Paramount Theatre and serves locally sourced contemporary American fare with an emphasis on seasonal ingredients. Chef Andy Schumacher, a graduate of the French Culinary Institute in New York, and co-owner Carrie Schumacher returned to Iowa from Brooklyn to establish their dream restaurant. The couple met as University of Iowa students and spent four years in Brooklyn drawing inspiration from the vibrant local food scene and farm-to-table movement. Andy became a semifinalist for the James Beard Foundation's Best Chef: Midwest award. The Schumachers emphasize seasonality and deep relationships with local farmers who sometimes grow specialty items specifically for their menu. The restaurant features exposed brick, white pillars, and candlelight, creating an intimate setting. Nothing on the menu has ever been repeated - each dish is a unique, one-time creation.[2]
